Matthew Cairns
Matthew Cairns is the Grounds & Operations Coordinator for Blacktown International Sportspark and has been involved in the sports turf industry for over 30 years.
Matthew is a qualified turf professional and completed his apprenticeship at Five Dock Park Boling Club. From there Matthew moved on as head Greenkeeper at Cumberland Builders and South Strathfield Bowling Club. Matthew did his time with a bowling club contractor, where he developed his skills.
In 1998 Matthew commenced his time at Blacktown City Council in the Parks and Gardens section, now known as Open Space, where he was positioned to assist the Greenkeepers at Joe McAleer and Whalan Oval. In March 2000 Matthew was appointed as Head Greenkeeper and Councils representative with the Olympic Contractors, Manoeuvre Mow lead by Geoff Hatton Jnr, to maintain the facilities at the Blacktown Olympic Park for the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
Matthew is in charge of all year-round maintenance and preparation of all sports surfaces at Blacktown International Sportspark Sydney and Joe McAleer Oval.
